Fullex SL16 Crimebeater - Auto Locking
45mm BACKSET ONLY
This Fullex Auto multipoint door lock features 3 Deadbolts & 1 Latch.
Based on the popular Crimebeater lock, the Fire Door Slam Shut Autolock has an actuator unit positioned between the centre case and the top bolt. When the door is closed a trigger in the actuator is depressed by a strike plate fitted to the outer frame which allows the actuator to drive the top and bottom bolts into their extended position. A single rotation of the key or thumbturn then locks the door.
Available in a 3 deadbolt variant, with a 20mm steel faceplate. When combined with an intumescent kit, this lock can achieve FD30 and FD60 standards on timber and composite doors. Please see the associated part of the intumescent kit.
Fullex Crimebeater multipoint door locks are available as either a deadbolt or hookbolt variant, but the locking points are in the same position, regardless of which version you choose. Identifying a Fullex Crimebeater is largely the same as identifying a Fullex XL lock. Very early versions of this lock did not have Fullex stamped on the faceplate, but checking the gearbox will help identify the lock. The top corner is cut off and it will feature a latch and deadbolt (XL series locks feature a latch and hookbolt).
Crimebeater locks can also be verified by checking the measurements of the external deadbolts and hookbolts. The top hook or deadbolt will measure 686mm from the top spindle in the gearbox. The bottom hook or deadbolt will measure 714mm to the top spindle.
Automatic locking multipoint locks also have the added benefit of always having the locking points engaged in the middle, top and bottom of the lock, when the door is closed. That differs to a normal multipoint lock, where the user may not always throw the locking points, leaving the door closed on the central latch, only. As the door is not held against the frame across its entire length, that can lead to doors becoming bowed or warped over time and as they are exposed to the elements. Automatic locking multipoint locks help alleviate this issue as, when the door closes, the door will be automatically held against the frame in the middle, top and bottom of the door. That helps ensure that the door stays straight and true.
Fullex Autolocks use the same gearbox as a regular Crimebeater but they are only available in a 45mm backset with double spindle configuration. They can be used as lift lever or double spindle nightlatch lock.
Crimebeater gearboxes measure 227mm high by the backset + 15mm. These gearboxes attach to their strips with three equidistant screws. The middle screw is 108mm from the top, which is also 108mm from the bottom screw.
These gearboxes feature a deadbolt and latch. The latch is 24mm hight, the deadbolt is 30mm high and the distance from the bottom of the latch to the top of the deadbolt is 72mm.
Crimebeater gearboxes also feature a snib on the faceplate that can be used to hold back the latch.
Crimebeater Autolock external deadbolts are manufacture red from chrome plated A3 hardened cast steel.
